Our Training Courses

Advancing to the next level!

These intermediate courses are for both technicians working in the field of occupational hygiene as well as health and safety professionals who want more technical knowledge in key areas.

We offer six modules at this Intermediate level, which are designed as 5-day courses taught in-person and online. Participants are provided tutor lead training, hands-on training, and assessed practicals and case-studies. Finally on the 5th day there are “open book” examinations, each with an allowed time of 120 minutes.

Once you have completed the six modules you can, with the right experience, attain an ICertOH..

International Certificate in Occupational Hygiene

To be awarded the ICertOH a Personal Learning Portfolio must also be completed. Candidates who wish to complete a Personal Learning Portfolio will need to collect evidence that demonstrates you have applied your knowledge in practical situations. This will be documented in a Personal Learning Portfolio. Full details on completing a Personal Learning Portfolio can be found in the Qualification Guide. Compiling of a portfolio should start as early as possible after completing the first ICertOH course. Once the portfolio is completed an application can be made for an intermediate level interview for the award of the International Certificate in Occupational Hygiene. In order to download an application form for this qualification or to read the Qualification Guide for more information, visit the web page of BOHS, the Participating Examining Body: http://www.bohs.org/membership/benefits-of-membership/professional-development/certificate-in-occupational-hygiene/
Full Membership of the AIOH and COH Accreditation

The Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) has the requirement in their “Member Application Manual” that to be a Full Member that applicants must have a postgraduate degree in hygiene that is acceptable to the Council. However, if this is not the case then there is an alternative pathway through certification as a hygienist under any IOHA recognised certification scheme. As such, an applicant for full membership of the AIOH, who does not have the acceptable qualifications but has the other requirements, will be considered if they do the following:

  • complete the ICertOH;
  • successfully complete an interview with the AIOH.

Once a full Member the applicant can become a Certified Occupational Hygienist
(COH)®, assuming they meet additional criterion for experience.
