In December 2017 the DMIRS released an information sheet on managing health and hygiene exceedences in the Safety Regulation System (SRS). It covers the actions when personal protective equipment is used as a supplementary control, as the correct fit, the effectiveness of PPE is uncertain. when exceedences occur a declaration has to be made by the Noise Officer or Ventilation Officer that:
- the person has been provided with sufficient information on the risks
- the person has been supplied with protection of sufficient rating to reduce exposure to below –
- relevant exposure standards or action levels
- the person is fit-tested fort he respective PPE
- the person is or has been subject to health surveillance programme
- a noise report and control plan or health and hygiene management plan (for hazardous substances) has been submitted
