Introduction

The British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) IP405 – Management of Asbestos in Buildings training course provides the trainee with the practical knowledge and skills to be able to manage asbestos in buildings and a knowledge base to audit asbestos removal projects.


This is an ideal course for those persons responsible for managing asbestos in a building or estate, who have no real experience within the asbestos industry.

Suitable Applicants

The course is designed to offer candidates the practical knowledge and skills to be able to manage asbestos in buildings and give a knowledge base to audit asbestos removal projects.  The course is also useful for those that are responsible for managing asbestos in a building or estates that have no real experience within the asbestos industry.

Course Content

The course covers the basics of surveying of buildings for the presence of asbestos, bulk sampling and general guidance on management procedures necessary to minimise exposure to identified asbestos.

The course covers a broad range of asbestos related matters including the nature of asbestos, its properties and health effects, asbestos in buildings, asbestos management plans & strategies, the roles of asbestos surveyors, contractors and analysts.  The course includes a full range of PowerPoint presentations, video, accompanying notes and additional course materials.

In addition to classroom based tutorials, delegates undergo practical assessments and role playing which helps combine all aspects of the course and helps give the candidate an overview of the situations that they may experience on site.

Assessment

Candidates will be required to pass the following to be awarded the module:

  1. Written Theory Examination
  2. Written Practical Examination

Qualification and Certificates

Successful completion of the course will give delegates the practical knowledge and skills to be able to manage asbestos in buildings and to carry out basic audits of asbestos removal projects.  A formal certificate is issued to successful candidates directly by BOHS

The course culminates in a 2hr written exam and 2hr written practical exam on the final day which is formulated and administered by BOHS Candidates must pass both the written and written practical assessments to be awarded the BOHS IP405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings Training Course certificate.

 

All BOHS courses are delivered by experienced tutors that are not only qualified in the subjects they teach, but also have extensive practical field experience in asbestos surveying and management.

Cancellations

In the event of a cancellation, the following fees will apply:

  • Cancellation within 4 weeks of course start date: 50% of total course fee.
  • Cancellation within 2 weeks of course start date: 100% of total course fee.
