Mine Air Quality Technician Course

The Mine Air Quality Technician (MAQT) course is designed for those wishing to obtain the skills and knowledge required to assist the appointed Mine Air Quality Officer (MAQO). Participants gain practical, hands-on training in sampling, calibration and reporting, preparing them to support mine air quality monitoring and management in line with health and safety standards.

This course is delivered by the WHS Foundation (RTO 1907). It is a three-day course undertaken in person at WHS’s training facility in North Lake, WA.

Mine Air Quality Officer Course

The Mine Air Quality Officer (MAQO) course is a two-day face-to-face programme that develops the competencies required for statutory appointment as a Mine Air Quality Officer under the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.

The course is recognised as an approved course in the sampling and assessment of airborne contaminants, as required by the WHS (Mines) Regulations for Mine Air Quality Officers. It is delivered by RED OHMS Group in partnership with the WHS Foundation, and taught by practising occupational hygienists with direct experience of Western Australian mining operations.

A statutory-appointed MAQO must be able to demonstrate that workplaces are adequately ventilated and that risks from exposure to hazardous substances and airborne contaminants are being effectively controlled. This course builds on the technical and practical skills gained in the three-day Mine Air Quality Technician course, extending participants into ventilation management, contaminant control and regulatory compliance.
