FAQs

A Health Management Plan (HMP) is a comprehensive, site-specific document that describes how an organisation identifies, assesses, controls and monitors occupational health hazards. In Western Australia, mine operators are required under the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 and associated regulations to establish and maintain health management systems, of which an HMP is a core component. DEMIRS routinely requests HMPs as part of compliance inspections and incident investigations.

HRAs should be reviewed whenever there is a significant change to a process, chemical inventory, or workforce profile – and at minimum every three to five years. If monitoring data indicates exposures approaching or exceeding workplace exposure standards, an immediate review is warranted. RED OHMS can schedule periodic reviews as part of an ongoing programme retainer.
